REMINDER: House Bill 338 clarifying that a home service contract “provider” is limited to the party that is contractually obligated to provide service or indemnification and does not apply to sellers or administrators of such contracts becomes effective August 15, 2010. Providers are still be required to register with the Louisiana Department of Insurance under the new law. Further, this bill exempts contracts from regulation which are sold or offered for sale on a single item of property at the time of the sale of the property or within one year of the date of the sale; and which guarantees the performance or to indemnity relative to a single item of residential property.
